Haggai: Renewed People. God's people are renewed and challenged to live in a new way. God's promise leads to discipline leads to life.
To Them:
- God punished them in disobedience.
- God blessed them in obedience.
- God chose to work the blessing through Zerubbabel.
To Us:
- Discipline is good when its aim is life.
- We are blessed in Christ Jesus.
- Trust the plan.
Gospel Response:
- Believe: In every season, blessing is coming in Christ.
- Challenge: Don't get lazy while living now.
- Evaluate: Are you listening to God?
- Do: Promise of Freedom in God's presence which leads to discipline for complacency and latency which leads to life with God forever.

- Moses and Noah experienced a warning on earth.
- God shook the earth multiple times.
- God promises to shake the earth and heavens.
- An eternal promise in heaven for a temporal challenge on earth.
Gospel Response: Refocuses our lives around an eternal perspective that transforms our temporal lives.

Haggai: Return of the King. God's presence is promised to return. God woke up His complacent people. Are you complacent in any area of your life that God has called you to be active and obedient in? God's authority invokes obedience!
THEM:
- God's Authority Invoked Obedience
- God's Word Led to Obedience - God's Presence Awakened Obedience
US:
- God freed us through Jesus
- God calls us to build the church for His presence to dwell throughout the world.
- God INVOKES us to build.
- God LEADS us to build.
- God AWAKENS us to build.
Gospel Response: In Christ, contentment is the peace of lacking nothing, yet finding everything, never needing more, but faithfully willing to receive or give more. Complacency is the ignorance of feeling as if you lack nothing, while longing for more but not having the ability to find more.

Haggai: Return of the Temple. We have purpose in our freedom, to spread the Kingdom of God. Has comfort become an idol for you? God calls the people to rebuild the Temple. The reason is they have failed to follow through with their faithfulness to God. They continue this and it's fulfilled in the new dwelling place of God, in us.
God works through Haggai not to Haggai
- The challenge is to build the Kingdom.
- We can either build the kingdom commitment or worldly excuses.
God has chosen to work through the Church rather than a particular nation. God has chosen to dwell in you rather than a temple.
Haggai points to Jesus:
- God uses Zerubbabel.
- God is building a new temple.
Gospel Response:
- Be faithful, even if it means being uncomfortable.
- Be sent, even if it means being uncomfortable.

Church Unity in Ministry: So, unite together to serve God wherever He calls you. Who is with you in your walk to serve God? The church was united by Christ. It was specifically united around the task he gave them to make disciples in all the nations. We need to talk about our ministry to one another and the world more often.
- Paul Built a Ministry Team in Deep Community
- Paul Sent United Disciples to Make Disciples
- Paul Built Unity Around Ministry
We don't have true community without true unity. Every community creates parameters for unity. Christ destroyed immoral unity on the cross and built up a unity from love through the cross. The unity of the church is its degree of freedom from divisions among true Christians. - Wayne Grudem

- The Church doesn't have Fans
- Serving Together Builds Unity and Community

The gospel unites and emboldens while worldly desires divide and extinguish. The gospel unites and sin divides. Church Unity in the Gospel: The church was united by Christ, it's foolish to let division seep into the church. Therefore, a solid faith and hope will prevent these dissensions.
Types of Division in Crete:
1. Foolish Debates
2. Genealogies
3. Quarrels/Disputes about the Law
Rejecting Division Self-condemnation here comes because the pride of the divisive person makes them the savior rather than Jesus.
Gospel Response:
- Set your Minds on Christ and His Gospel
- Seek First the Kingdom of God
- Identify "Hills to Die On"
