Season 2 Ep.1: Worship through Music as a Formation for Discipleship

Music can be a form of worship. It can also be a part of discipleship. Let's talk about the formation of discipleship through music in the local church. 

Ep. 182 - Jesus Series: Be assured in obedience. Hebrews 6:9-20

Our great promise in Christ builds faith and hope. Be assured in obedience. God restores the broken.

- We are not secure in our disobedience.

- We are secure in Christ' obedience.

- We are assured in our works.

 

Gospel Response: Do something that will require you to trust in the power of the Holy Spirit.

- What disobedience leads you to doubt your faith and security?

- What obedience does Christ do that leads you to assurance?

- What is the Spirit working in and through you to do that will bring hope and assurance in your life?

Can you lose your salvation? It was never yours to win or lose. Jesus accomplished your salvation. So yes, if you have earned a salvation, surely you can lose it. But if your salvation is from the Lord, then no, because He chose you, called you, and will keep you.

 

💜 Stop being immature.

- Grow Towards Maturity.

- Depend on God.

- Spark a Fire.

 

Gospel Response:

- Hear the Warning.

- Repent Now

- Embrace the Promise

- Continually do a fast or specifically the 7 Fast.

Gospel Response: Tonight before bed, embody the attitude of Jesus to your friends or family. In the morning embody an action of Jesus to your friends or family.

Heaven is New Vocation. Why are we here? Do everything for the good of creation and the glory of God. Vocation is your passion, your calling.

- We Protect Life.

- We Work the Ground while waiting for the Garden.

 

Gospel Response: Discuss with someone in your field of work how you can do good for creation and bring glory to God through your work.

Heaven is New Life! Live during Christmas like Heaven came down. What are you going to do for eternity? Truly I Tell You: Anyone Who Hears and Believes Him Who Sent Me has Eternal Life. No Judgment/No Death.

Living this Christmas because of Jesus:

1. I will live in the peace of Jesus.

2. I will live in the contentment of Jesus.

3. I will live in the joy of Jesus.

4. I will live in the gentleness of Jesus.

5. I will live in the humility of Jesus.

 

Practical Ways:

1. Lord, I have enough in you and from you.

2. Give thanks and praise for gifts.

3. Give thanks and praise for food.

4. Set aside quiet moments with loved ones.

5. Lead your family to serve the underresourced in some capacity.

6. Confess a sin to someone you have hurt.

7. Consider the 7 Fast or Something Similar

 

Gospel Response: Build "life" into your calendar.

- Prayer for you and others.

- Asking God to Reveal Life in Jesus to You.

- Hear and Believe.

Ep. 175 - Jesus Series: Jesus is greater than any high priest. Hebrews 5:1-14

Entering into Rest: Through the High Priest, the final high priest can truly offer a sacrifice and an entrance into the new temple. Jesus is greater than any high priest.

 

- The high priest was appointed by God.

- The high priest is to deal gently with those who are ignorant. - Jesus Christ is our high priest, forever.

- Rest in the fact that Jesus’ death and resurrection is more than enough. Nothing more is needed.

- Four qualifications for a high priest: High priests must:

1. Be appointed by God to represent mankind before God.

2. Offer gifts/sacrifices for sins.

3. Be able to sympathize with others.

4. Offer sacrifices for his own sins.

- It’s time for believers to grow up.

 

Gospel Response:

- Enter into rest through our High Priest, the Lord Jesus.

- Take responsibility for your own spiritual growth and maturity.

Entering into Rest: Through Jesus' Faith, the faithfulness of Jesus secured our rest for eternity. Jesus beat your sin, so you can too. The king of kings is inviting you into His presence, an eternal rest from this weary world.

💜 Your high priest is able to sympathize with you.

💜 Your high priest is able to show you temptation without sin.

Therefore:

• Hold Fast

• Approach Boldly

 

Gospel Response: What would it look like to rest from your weary toil with sin?

- Come to Jesus and remove the fig leaves.

- Surround yourself with Jesus' strength.
