EP 215 - SERMON - Romans: The Law Isn’t the Problem — Sin Is. Romans 7:1-25
Tuesday May 06, 2025
Tuesday May 06, 2025
"The Law Isn’t the Problem — Sin Is." Our slavery to sin makes the law look bad. The reason we could not be saved through the law is not because the law is evil, but because we were slaves to sin.
What it means to us:
✔ Remember, you are free from the Law.
✔ Remember, you are free from slavery and death.
✔ Do not let your flesh influence your life.
Gospel Response:
✝️ You are not under the Law — don’t blame it.
✝️ You are not a slave to sin — don’t live like one.

Ep 214 - SERMON - Romans: Who is your master today — sin or God? Romans 6:15-23
Wednesday Apr 30, 2025
Wednesday Apr 30, 2025
Who is your master today — sin or God? We are all slaves to something. Either we are slaves to sin, leading to death, or slaves to God, leading to righteousness and life. Grace doesn’t free us to sin — grace frees us from sin to live for God. We’ve been transferred from the reign of death to the reign of life in Christ. Freedom in Christ means we now serve a new Master—one who leads us to peace, sanctification, and eternal life.
Gospel Response: Because of Jesus, you are no longer a slave to sin. You have been set free to live a new life, bearing fruit for God's glory. The gift of eternal life is yours — walk in it!
➡️ The Gospel has the power to overcome sin, suffering, and death. If you believe and follow Christ Jesus, you do too.
➡️ The Gospel removes shame from your life and now through the Holy Spirit, He will lead you through conviction of what you need to work on.
➡️ The Gospel is the greatest gift you have ever been given, go tell someone this week about that great gift and then do life with them shoulder to shoulder.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." —Romans 6:23 (CSB)

With Christ we die and with Christ we arise. Our salvation isn’t based on what we’ve done, but on what Christ has done. Through one man’s sin (Adam), death entered the world. But through one man’s obedience (Jesus), grace and righteousness overflow to many. God's gift is greater than the trespass.
The result? We are no longer condemned—we’re reconciled and made righteous in Him.
➡️ We don't earn salvation.
➡️ We receive it.
➡️ We don't boast in our works.
➡️ We boast in the work of Jesus.
Gospel Response: Are you still trying to earn what God has already offered freely? Will you receive the gift of grace through Jesus Christ— who took your place, bore your sin, and gave you life?

From Enemies to Family - We are reconciled to God not because of what we’ve done—but because of one righteous act: Jesus’ death for sinners, enemies, and the ungodly. Reconciliation is relational, not just theological—God restored the relationship with us while we were still His enemies. Christ died for us at our worst, not when we were good, worthy, or had it all together. Salvation is not earned by works, baptism, prayer, or actions—but by God’s grace and love alone.
Through Jesus, we move from:
Enemy ➝ Child
Sinner ➝ Righteous
Condemned ➝ Justified
Death ➝ Eternal Life
The law exposed more sin, but where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more. The death of the Son brings life to sons and daughters. Don’t rely on what you did to answer “Am I saved?”—rest in what He did. Do you know about God, or do you truly know Him as your Father?

Ep 211 - SERMON - Romans: God’s Work, Our Hope! Romans 5:1-5
Monday Apr 14, 2025
Monday Apr 14, 2025
God’s Work, Our Hope! Our hope is not built on our works but on God's work - especially in our suffering. "God's work is our hope."
➡️ Justified by faith
➡️ Now we have peace with God
➡️ We have access to His grace
➡️ We stand, not strive
➡️ We boast — not in ourselves, but in: Hope of His glory, Our afflictions, God alone
Why boast in suffering? Because:
➡️ Affliction → Endurance
➡️ Endurance → Proven Character
➡️ Proven Character → Hope
➡️ And hope does not disappoint (v.5)
You have:
✅ Peace with God
✅ Access to the Father
✅ Love poured out in your heart
✅ Grace to stand
✅ A hope that will not fail
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Ep. 210 - PODCAST - Doing what is Good in a Moral Dilemma! 2 Peter 1:3
Wednesday Apr 09, 2025
Wednesday Apr 09, 2025
In this episode, we explore the challenge of moral dilemmas and how to help others navigate difficult decisions with wisdom and faithfulness. Drawing from Liederbach’s definition of moral dilemmas—where multiple absolute moral norms seem to be in conflict—we ask the crucial question: How do we help people discern what is truly good and right? Rather than giving quick answers, we must guide people through the full biblical process of discernment: through God’s Word, God’s Spirit, and God’s People. This means considering the intentions, actions, consequences, and virtue formation involved—looking at the whole, not just the parts.
Main Points:
- Virtue Ethics is a strong foundation for Christian ethics.
- Intentions matter (Peter Abelard: “God considers not the action, but the spirit of the action.”).
- Actions should align with God’s truth (Deontological ethics: “Do the right thing because it is right.” – Kant).
- Consequences matter, not to justify actions, but to examine the fruit of life and love.
- Virtue formation is the long-term impact of our decisions (Bonhoeffer: “What is worse than doing evil, is being evil.”).
Key Takeaways: Moral guidance is not just about answering, “What should I do?” but guiding people through the spiritual discipline of meditation, community discernment, and prayerful contemplation. True wisdom comes from time with God and His people—not from reactive decision-making. We help people discern whether they are dealing with immaturity or iniquity. One needs guidance; the other needs repentance. Faithfulness in action means we act in love, regardless of desired or undesired outcomes. We don’t measure goodness by results alone—but by intention, action, consequence, and the virtue being formed. Courage is needed to accept biblical but undesired results, knowing that God is forming character in the process.
📖 “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” – 2 Peter 1:3 (CSB)
Gospel Response:
- Don’t just seek answers—seek discernment.
- Don’t just look at what is easy or desirable—look at what forms Christlike character.
- Disciple others by helping them reflect, listen to God, and walk in truth, even when it’s hard.
- Remember: God works all things together for good—not just the things we like.

This week, we explored how both Abraham and David show us that faith—not works—makes us right with God. It's not about what we've done, but about who we trust. Abraham believed, and it was credited to him as righteousness—before he did anything religious. David, after great sin, still found grace through faith. God doesn’t justify us because we’re strong, perfect, or have it all together. He justifies us when we trust Him to do what we cannot.
✝️ Faith isn’t something we earn—it’s trusting God to be who He says He is.
✝️ Grace is getting what we don’t deserve.
✝️ Faith leads to belonging—we become God's people not by behavior, but by belief.
Main argument: Faith is credited as righteousness.
Supporting argument: Abraham was justified before circumcision.
Supporting argument: Abraham was justified before there was the mosaic law.
Supporting argument: Abraham was the father of many nations.
Trusting God isn't about how much the promise makes sense to you, it's about who made the promise.
Paul's conclusion: We should have faith like Abraham, because righteousness will be credited to us too.
Whether you feel like Abraham (at the beginning, waiting) or David (in the aftermath of failure), the answer is the same: trust God.
💬 Gospel Response: Faith may not always make sense—but it always leads to hope, belonging, and life in Christ.
✝️ What do you not trust in God?
✝️ How have you tried to belong to God?
✝️ Are you trusting in your works—or in Jesus?
✝️ Do you believe that God can bring life where you see death?
✝️ Will you stop striving and start trusting?
📖 “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” – Romans 4:3

🔥Boasting in Christ Alone 🔥This message calls us to confront the human desire to boast in who we are and what we do—and lay it down at the feet of Jesus. Paul reminds us in Romans 3:27–31 that we are justified by faith, not by our good works or religious performance. Salvation isn’t about what we’ve accomplished—it’s about what Christ has done for us. We don’t stand before God with a list of accomplishments—we stand with Jesus, the only one worthy of boasting.
Just like the Jews of Paul’s day, we too are tempted to base our identity on external markers—our background, our behavior, our success. But Paul clears it up:
“Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded... a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.”
When we boast in our own strength, we rob God of the glory only He deserves. Boasting in Christ alone leads us to humility, deeper faith, and authentic witness to the world around us.
💬 Gospel Response: This week’s message reminds us: The only thing we bring to God is our need—and Jesus is more than enough.
✅ Humble yourself before God – Admit you have nothing to offer but need everything Jesus has done.
✅ Trust in God's saving power – Believe that His grace, not your effort, is what justifies and sustains you.
✅ Boast in Christ, not self – Let every part of your life point to His work, not your own.
📖 Romans 3:27–28 "Where then is boasting? It is excluded... for we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law."

🔥 The Collision of Wrath & Grace 🔥At the cross, God’s wrath and grace collided, revealing His righteousness—not through our works, but through faith in Jesus. God is right and has made me right. Do you trust in the work of Christ on the cross, where God’s wrath and grace collided to reveal His righteousness?
📖 “But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed... through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.” – Romans 3:21-22
✅ God’s righteousness:
1️⃣ Revealed apart from the law
2️⃣ Available to all through faith
3️⃣ Sourced from Jesus’ sacrifice
4️⃣ The ultimate collision of wrath and grace You don’t see how gracious God is until you see how wicked you are.
💭 Gospel Response: Do you trust in the work of Christ on the cross?

Abiding in Christ and Finding True Peace: Are you resting in God’s righteousness or relying on your own?
Key Points:
🔹 Understanding Our Need for God – Paul reveals in Romans 3:1-20 that all people, regardless of background, fall short of God's glory. Our unrighteousness does not change God's faithfulness.
🔹 Faith vs. Works – The Jews were given the law and God’s presence, yet they failed to internalize it. Like holding medicine but never taking it, simply knowing about God is not enough—we must abide in Him.
🔹 God’s Judgment is for All – Sin is universal. It is not limited by nationality, status, or personal morality. Paul dismantles the idea that religious privilege exempts anyone from God’s judgment.
🔹 Our Righteousness Comes Through Christ – We cannot justify ourselves before God through works. True righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ, the only one worthy to stand before God on our behalf.
🔹 Shifting Our Perspective on God’s Goodness – Instead of questioning God’s goodness based on our struggles, we should see our pain as an opportunity to trust Him more. His grace uses even our failures for good.
Gospel Response:
✅ Depend Fully on Christ – We all stand before God, but only through faith in Jesus are we justified. Instead of clinging to our own righteousness, we must trust in His.
✅ Long for God’s Presence – Like the psalmist in Psalm 42, we should desire to stand before God, not in fear, but in confidence through Christ.
✅ Live in Humility and Faith – Instead of questioning God’s fairness, recognize that our righteousness depends on Him alone. Let go of control and trust in His sovereignty.
Are you trusting in your goodness, or are you resting in Christ’s? Let go of self-reliance and surrender to the righteousness that only comes through faith in Jesus.
